Politics...and Our Brains? Loretta Breuning, Ph.D., Director of the Inner Mammal Institute, Explains the Link

Greetings Great Americans! The "polis," as defined by Merriam-Webster, is "a state or society especially when characterized by a sense of community." And a polis is made up of many individual human "mammals." And each one of those human mammals has a brain that directs how humans act individually as well as with other people.

If you would like to learn about "what's going on up there (in the brain)" at a neurochemical level - what drives most of our thoughts, feelings, and actions - then Dr. Breuning's commentary will delight you.

Dr. Breuning is the Director of the Inner Mammal Institute (IMI), an organization dedicated to "helping people build their power over their mammalian brain chemistry."

Our discussion does a quick review of the principal neurochemicals dopamine/oxytocin/serotonin, and then we move on to how these neurochemicals actually have an effect on the "political programming" of our brains based on past experiences and on current interpersonal interactions.

I found this discussion to be fascinating and enlightening in regards to the current state of politics in the USA.

Dr. Breuning has written six books (my favorite is How I Escaped Political Correctness - And You Can Too), and they are all available on the IMI website.
